False Dawns Report/ Zyna Recruitment

01 — Project details

As the head of Perspectus Global, I led a collaborative effort with Zyna Recruitment to produce the "False Dawns: A Response to Three Years of D&I Pledges" report.

This comprehensive study aimed to assess the progress of diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives within British businesses over the past three years.

Our research focused on identifying persistent barriers to career advancement for minority groups and highlighting the benefits of a diverse workforce. The methodology included extensive surveys, interviews with industry leaders, and analysis of corporate D&I policies

02 — Outcome

The release of the 'False Dawns' report led to significant achievements. Zyna's CEO, Marcus Whyte, was invited to Downing Street to present the report's findings, underscoring the government's recognition of the study's importance.

The report garnered extensive national media attention, including features in outlets including The Guardian and The Mirror, amplifying the conversation on D&I in the corporate sector.

The publication sparked substantial engagement across social platforms, particularly on LinkedIn, where professionals actively discussed the findings and their implications for workplace diversity.

Overall, the report made a meaningful contribution to the discourse on diversity, equity, and inclusion, prompting organizations to re-evaluate and strengthen their D&I commitments.

It’s not enough to simply have a list of applicants who are white and middle class. Every role should have diverse options. Firms need to take risks. And they also need to think about the firms they’re using as recruiters.
